Arrive in Ushuaia. Feb 16

Very windy morning in Ushuaia.  So windy that the docks and port were closed.  Ship anchored in harbor amid lots of whitecaps.  Our team tied for a win in a one-off trivia competition.  We’re really going to miss our entertainment members, Steve, Harry and Sharon.  In the afternoon, Tom and I went into Ushuaia and walked around the town.  Saw the prison museum, many souvenir shops and outdoor outfitters.  Still very windy.  We sat at Steve Stevens table for dinner and enjoyed visiting with Steve, Sharon and some other veteran Seabourn cruisers.

·        Sleep through the night WITH the aid of ambien.  Surprises me that I can sleep even with help given how much I slept yesterday.  Wake at 4am then at 7. We’re still in motion. MJP leaves 745 and I get up 830. By then we’re anchored in the middle of the bay at Ushuaia with extreme whitecaps.  So much for being on land by 9am.  I have breakfast --  2 orders of french toast with MJP.  Alexandr the Serbian serves us and remembers I like extra syrup.  He’s sort of charming.  Resto manager signals roving waiter with coffee to get me some.  I like getting the attention.
·        MJP goes to 11am trivia and I read American Beauty.  Speak with Roland the F&B manager.  Trying to understand rules.  Need to pre-order french onion soup…  Also, he’ll keep an eye out for me for beer.  He’s apologizing for not getting drink service last night!
·        Sitting outside until wind shifts and it gets cold
·        Relocate to patio restaurant.  MJP joins and then as we finish meal so do Jim&Judy from Delaware/Colorado who are in a suite...  Then announcement that gangways is down and we dash to leave ship
·        Go to prison/museum MJP wants to see.  $17 each not worth it. We are punch drunk from the ship and I have 2 coffee’s.  Then go shopping. I get t shirt.
·        Back in room and I’m disappointed that there’s no new beer.  630pm and still bright out.
·        Shopping is interesting.   All choices of hiking or outdoor gear. Plus fashion clothes.  The last stop before Antarctica coming from this direction.
·        DInner in Restaurant again.  Food sounds better than it actually is.  As is usual.
·        I go back into town 10-1045 just to spend some time on solid ground and back by 11.  Town is mostly closed.
