Hope Bay. Sunday, February 10

Unable to land at Brown Bluff due to ice.  So we did zodiac tours of Hope Bay.  Saw gentoo penguin chicks swimming for the first time.

·        Initial plan was to go to Brown Bluff but it is too icy there.  So captain makes an announcement that we’re shifting location and disembarkations/kayaks will be delayed
·        Turns out that today will be Zodiac tour instead of landing…  The initial promise was that at Brown Bluff we’d actually set food on mainland Antarctica so I’m a bit disappointed and worried because they really can’t guarantee anything and this is one less chance.
·        We’re out on deck. They bring out ramekins with fruit compotes. Then bring out insulated cups with rum spiked hot chocolate.  NOTE this is start of issue next day with service.
·        Great picture opportunities
·        Room service dinner because we want to go to bed early (10pm).  I take Ambien, mjp doesn’t, both of us hear whacking against the hull through the night.  I think its baby icebergs that we’re running into.  Someone else says it is the anchor hitting.
