Deception Island. Then heading north. Feb 14
Scenic cruising to caldera. Beautiful.
Then Drake Passage. Valentines Day with candy hearts. 5 meter waves are a lot.
Staggering around the ship. Tom really bothered by swells.
·
Should be our last day
in Antarctica but yesterday was… We get up early and go to Observation
bar but discover that everyone is already there. The drive by takes from
830-10am and into the Caldera. We see a
research station and also a working vessel of some sort. On the way back out of
the caldera someone points out a shipwreck.
·
Waves start to get bumpy
almost immediately and get worse as the day goes on.
·
Barf bags conspicuously
placed throughout, as they were during trip down.
·
After the presentation
in pm we do our usual dash for dinner and Jim/Sari are right behind us and
propose dinner together. Turns out that they are keeping kosher and have had
the galley staff jump through many hoops. Continue to see Roland who
nods/etc.
·
Ship does acknowledge Valentine’s
Day with marzipan roses and a large cake.
Not sure when it is cut and distributed… It's set to serve but we
leave before anything happens.
·
We hang out in Seabourn Square
and read/movie for a while which probably hurts me.
·
A little queasy by the
end of dinner and afterwards. Back in room I’m not sure about going to
sleep and quite fearful about the fact that there are 24 more hours of this
ahead.
·
Try laying in bed with
light on and sleep a bit. Wake up at 12 and feel better about the
concept. Ambien and more sleep
